Why This Must Be Read: In the author's own words: "Pretend, for a moment, that you got stranded somewhere for a few years, only to return and watch the series finale of SGA without having a chance to catch up."

That's what this is -- one possible ending, with years of adventure and love and pain and heartache and failed plans and dashed hopes between here and there. Piece of this unseen backstory are seeded lightly throughout the story, giving tantalizing glimpses of all that has led them to this point. The characters are a little older, a little sadder, maybe a little wiser in some ways but not in others, and still undeniably themselves.

Reading this story gives me a deep and beautiful ache. It's good science fiction, space opera in the best sense. There is wonder and horror, hope and disaster, tragedy and friendship, separation and bonding; there are terrible decisions, made for all the right reasons, and a rising sense of oncoming catastrophe that leaves the reader clinging to her chair with a white-knuckled grip and desperately hoping for a happy ending for these people that we've come to love. And at the center of it all, of course, are John and Rodney, halfway broken by all that's happened to them, but still picking up the pieces and carrying on, because there are people to save and no one else can do quite what they do.

Note: Story was written prior to season 3, so it contains no spoilers post-season 2, and most of those are very general.
