“What do you remember?” Jack asks.
Daniel gives a noncommittal shrug. He has always found Jack harder to deal with before he’s been fully caffeinated.
“You know, this whole not talking thing is starting to get really old. I didn’t say anything before, because I wasn’t sure if we were going to keep you or not.” Jack moves closer and takes the coffee cup out of Daniel’s hands. He leans over Daniel, yanking at his hair so that Daniel has to look up at him. “There are ways of making you talk.” Jack places his other hand at the base of Daniel’s throat. “Some of them I even got from you. You tortured me for months. Imagine all the things I learned.”
Jack’s thumb rests over Daniel’s pulse point, and Daniel focuses on trying to match his heartbeat to Jack’s.
