Why this should be read: A look at the Goa'uld (well 2 Goa'uld and 1 Tok'ra) and their personality - and things are not as black and white as it is often shown in Stargate. Even the worst may show hints that they could once have been redeemed, had things turned out differently, and it is difficult to not feel a little even for Qetesh. These three ficlets are a different and fascinating study of the Goa'uld, and the complexities that (of course) exist within them. Go read it. It's one of the best stories I have read in a while.

"She had this… hope."

Selmak arched her eyebrows. "Hope. Of what?"

Vala shook her head. "I don't know. Just. Hope."

The old Tok'ra's eyes glazed over with tears that remained unshed. "The Tok'ra queen was lost to us many centuries ago. But she once told her first children that it was hope that led her to abandon the violent ways of her peers and seek peace with our hosts."

Looking at her feet, Vala shook her head. "It's too late for mine."

Selmak said, "I know."

"Can you just make it quick?"

"Yes. we can."
