http://www.area52hkh.net/asp/ptuckered/wrong.php Why This Must Be Read: Without giving too much away, this is one of my favourite go to fics for my happy future fic fix. What distinguishes it? I felt there was honesty and integrity to the characters, that things didn't just fall into place without the expected struggle and learning curves, considering the pair, but there wasn't unbearable angst either, and that it was a proper love story. It felt like a true Jack/Daniel journey, both of them meeting the challenges of being together in their own distinct way. I don't often enough come across fics where Jack or Daniel aren't sacrificed so that the other may come off as the 'strong' one or the more heroic one, so this was doubly enjoyed for that distinction alone. I loved these characterizations because none of their hiccups were grating, the flaws were part of being human rather than defining them. They were just easy to love, very easy, and though I love the pair I don't always feel Jack deserves Daniel, I had no such qualms here. And of course there's story line and plot and all that jazz. :) Additionally, I like Sam, I love big-sis-Sam, but a lot of the time I just want to deck her. Then there are stories like this one, where you see the brilliant, kind, strong woman/officer that initially drew us to her, that made her a good fit with Daniel as her intellectual counterpart and sibling, and a good second in command and friend to Jack. That alone, the respect with which all the characters were written was enough for a look see but the deft way that the getting together and figuring out how to learn to be together, with additional storyline, reeled me in, and has had me back for a re-read a few times. How much more can I say except ... go read! :)
