Even though this fic explores the ever popular Quantum trope of 'dead people coming through the Quantum Mirror' again, Sid takes it a step further by bringing back Jack's son Charlie with an AU Daniel, AU Sam, and original character. The greatest fear of any parent is the death of their child; now Jack faces the "ghost" of his son only to lose him again when Charlie goes back through the Mirror with his adopted father, AU Daniel. Now add to this emotional rollercoaster a spectacular Jack/Daniel get together and just spot-on characterization, and you've got a winner of a fic!
Story Summary: Visitors from an alternate universe bring Jack pain and cause a rift in his relationship with Daniel.
Major Carter and the airman already had their hands in the air and were slowly walking down the ramp. Jack and Sam arrived at Daniel’s side just as the other Daniel started towards them, his arm around the shoulders of an exhausted-looking teenage boy.
Jack stiffened. Daniel glanced towards him and saw a face gray with shock. Turning back, startled, he saw the boy looking at Jack with pain-filled eyes. Oh, my god.
“Charlie?” Jack asked in a strangled tone. Daniel felt shaking hands on his arm as Jack pushed past him.
Sam gasped, and Major Carter averted her face as Jack swept his son into his arms. Daniel felt his eyes brimming with tears. The other Daniel, who had stepped to the side, was watching Daniel, his own eyes dry. He nodded at Daniel and gave the same half smile as before.
Jack’s voice was murmuring brokenly. The sobbing had to be Charlie’s.
