Why This Must Be Read: How much do I love this fic? How much do I envy this writer? This rec is leavened by serious quantities of jealousy. :) But in a good way. puritybrown writes a Teyla stripped of memories, and yet still herself in so many ways, and an Elizabeth who is determined to give her friend everything she can. The quiet longing that underscores both women's interaction is incredibly heartwrenching, especially given what we all know about the standard amnesia trope on-screen. (Turning those tropes on their heads is what fanfic is all about, though, isn't it?) This author writes a quiet, understated strength in both Elizabeth and Teyla, and neither one takes away from the other. Writing these two women together can be difficult, because they're so similar in some ways, yet so different in others, and this author manages it deftly, and in a way that I absolutely adore.
