Summary: John never thought he’d actually meet someone as messed up as him. Apparently, he was dead wrong.
Warnings: Death fic. Very dark. Very angsty.
A/N: I’m working with two very AU characters here. The John is the one from the AU episode of SGA entitled Vegas in which Sheppard never joined the SGC and ended up becoming a grizzled homicide detective in Las Vegas. The Dean I’m playing around with is one of my own creation - a Dean who never saved Sammy back in the All Hell Breaks Loose days and eventually returned to a solitary life of hunting because that’s really all he knows.
It’s cold outside. Way too frickin cold for this time of year, for this part of the country, and John can feel it all the way in his bones already. A deep chill seeping into marrow like the memories he can’t seem to forget or the nightmares he can’t seem to escape or the booze he can’t seem to stop using to dull the pain. Blunt the edges. Drown out the screams that haunt him day and night.
