The following is a list of fen (authors, artists, vidders, etc) who have
a) retired from fandom
b) removed their work from the internet
c) made a statement regarding their work being shared by fans
d) any or all of the above

How far back are you thinking?
For SGA, gaiaanarchy left fandom in Sept 2007, but lj remains accessible, ditto for stories (though the URL has been updated since, to http://www.fictionresource.com/gaia/ )
sardonicsmiley left the fandom, but stories remain accessible at http://smiley.zonezine.net
all but one of Karen McFadyyon's SGA stories are now back online at Wraithbait: http://www.wraithbait.com/viewuser.php?uid=3125
jane-elliot is going pro and removed one of her stories, Push/Pull, from the web, but doesn't mind if people email it between themselves: http://jane-elliot.livejournal.com/84180.html

P.S. - people who've been in the SGA fandom longer likely know more; maybe consider also posting a note about this at sga_noticeboard?

As far back as anyone can remember ;-)

I think that, if fen have left fandom/no longer write in the fandom BUT they're still around, I'll leave them off the list because they are still accessible to their fans re requests.

I'll update the list and try to create categories that make sense. Thank you for the extra info.

Anais (notmonkey) retired from fandom and took her work down. As far as I know, she has no objection to people sharing files. Many fics are available via Internet Archive.

koschka has removed her solo stuff from the net (can still get the Geeks and Goons stories by her and liketheriver). Not found any info about why or whether fans can share though.

as a little sidenote to this - are there any lists or anything out there where people who are willing to share/send out stories etc. can sign up?

Not that I know of. People can always request a story here and hope for the best.

Update...the link to the explanation for franticsga's exit and such now goes to an Access Denied page. i found that one of my links to a franticsga story went to the same place. i googled the lj user name and found this post.

Now the link appears to go to a fic masterlist. I think I'll just remove them from the list because I'm not sure what is and isn't accessible (but it seems like they haven't disappeared).

I think the work is hers but not all of it. At least one fic appears to have been removed from the net.
