Absolutely gorgeous. I loved Elizabeth pretending not to be royal, and Teyla and her people being so welcoming and friendly.

"Lord Tagan, tell me of the Wraith."
Glimpses of future Elizabeth - wanting to know everything so that she can best protect her people. Really, really wonderful.

The Athosians as portrayed here remind me of the Rohirrim in LotR. Noble, proud, honorable, but they get their hands dirty too. Love that.

Love that description, and I can totally see it. No, I'm not biased... :P

*content* This is the kind of story I'd read, snuggled up in bed on a chilly winter night.

Perfect! Especially the Teyla/Elizabeth friendship bit.

Elizabeth starts to take a responsibilities as a future queen, and I hate Kinsey even more because he completely ignore the Athosians.

Congrats on this fic!

I reread "Uncharted Waters" today and realized that this is the story alluded to in that tale and was all "you guys are awesome" again.

OH YAY! I'm so glad someone picked up on that! That's one of my favorite parts of writing this, laying in those little references. (There's also a reference in that scene in "Uncharted Waters" to "A Modest Proposal" but it's a blink-and-miss-it deal. :)

It's in the make-out scene, where Marcus tells Kate that his purpose in life is to put himself between Elizabeth and danger. Kate points out that it isn't just the guards who do that, and has a cryptic "remember the prince" line. It was originally "remember Prince Simon" but I think I decided that that giving away the store. ;)
