Because, you know, I totally forgot that OMG Women's Day Challenge! Okay, so... slightly different timeline, ahem.

How about this? I post the prompts I have, you claim them, and until March 31st you can write either one of the prompts or something that fits the topic of the challenge and the comm. Sound good? Okay, here are the prompts then:

gelbes_gilatier:

  • One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman. - Simone de Beauvoir, The Second Sex
  • A woman especially, if she have the misfortune of knowing anything, should conceal it as well as she can. - Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
  • Taught from their infancy that beauty is woman's sceptre, the mind shapes itself to the body, and roaming round its gilt cage, only seeks to adorn its prison. - Mary Wollstonecraft, A Vindication of the Rights of Women
scherryzade:

  • The first woman who slapped Rodney for paying more attention to her body than her equations...
  • The first woman to command a gate team from the SGC. - gelbes_gilatier
  • The first picture in this 'Big Picture' post.
  • The picture in this 'Boing Boing' post.
  • This poster (The smallar tagline says "There are no female Marines. Only Marines".
  • And a more generally prompt, just to say that I always like reading stories that feature character's mothers...
Happy writing and of course also reccing!

And... I'll get to write my story now... but I might also write "The first woman to command a gate team from the SGC" as well... oh, okay. I will.
