Well, I guess since I'm bored, and the person I want to be talking to isn't around (apparently some people have lives, or something) I might as well update. There's been a lot going on in my life! Some of it I can share and some of it I can't (yet), but you'll get the gist of it I'm sure.
So. As you may have gathered, a couple weeks ago I was fixin to buy a red 1993 Honda Civic coupe, with only 53,000 miles on it, 5spd, in great shape, and all that jazz. Well... after a week of mechanics and negotiations and hemming and hawing, the guy decided that he loved his baby car too much to sell it, and it's happily still residing in his driveway instead of in mine.
So actually that day in the paper, I saw an ad for another 1993 Honda Civic coupe, and I was all excited. It turned out to be tealy green, which was fine and all, if not ideal, and I took it for a test drive and liked it.. so my dad offered the lady a deposit. She said "Oh no, I won't sell it" and we set up a time to meet her at the mechanic the next day so I could check the car out before buying it. The next morning I get a phone call.. "I sold the car." Yep. After she said she wouldn't. Right out from under me.
Fast forward to Friday. I found nothing in the classifieds online, but i usually only check Hondas and Toyotas and Nissans anyway, with a few random other choices thrown in for good measure. I got into the car after I get off the train, and my brother hands me the newspaper.. he's circled an ad for a 1995 Acura Integra coupe with 100,000 miles on it. So I say why the hell not, and I called the guy. It turns out he's in the ER and he doesn't really know what's wrong with him, but he says he'll call me back. At about 7:30 pm I get a phone call, and it's this guy Joe, and as it turns out he had a mini stroke, but he's okay and would I like to come look at the car? So my dad and I hop in our cars, and we drive over there to look at it. Turns out he's selling it for his daughter's friend and the car. Is. BEAUTIFUL. It's black, and I know I want it.. then he starts pointing out things like the new tires, the new starter, and the freaking crazy new exhaust system. The one downside to the car? It's not a manual transmission, which I was dying to have. But let's face it folks.. without the tires, starter and exhaust, the car is still worth $7,000. What am I paying for it? $3900. HELL. YES. I put the deposit down because I had to go to the bank to get a bank check for him, but I did that today, and as of Monday or Tuesday, that sweet little 2-door sports car is MINE. Good thing I decided I wanted it so quick though, because as I was paying the deposit, other people showed up to look at the car... but it was sold. :D And the coolest part of this is I'm paying for it all by my lonesome, insurance and all. It's the first major purchase and financial responsibility of my life, and I'm so excited I could pee. But I won't. For your sake. So after everything was done, I drove out of his driveway and immediately called John.. something along the lines of "OMIGOD ITSMINEITSMINEITSMINE!" ...yeah. Sorry John :
So before the parents will insure it for me, they say I have to take the old Acura to the dealer and have the seatbelt, sunroof leak, and speedometer fixed. Okay.. I made an appointment for today, we took it in and at the end of the day... my seatbelt wasn't in. It will be in on Thursday. Since it's a seatbelt, and that's a safety issue, they graciously issued me a loaner car... a brand SPANKING new 2003 RSX. I took it for a joy ride tonight, and let me tell you.. I never again want anything but a sports car. The corners! The turns! The acceleration! I swear I could have orgasmed on the road. Okay, TMI? ...yeah.
So this has been maybe the best couple of weeks of my life... and not only because of the cars, as huge of a part as they play. But I told you I wasn't telling you everything yet, and I'm not.
