Day 17 → An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)
Saatchi Gallery (Sloane Square, London); part of the Abstract America exhibition; Ssspecific Object by Stephen G. Rhodes.
Hehe, doesn't it make you think of the opening of Le Petit Prince? 'Doesn't it make you feel scared?' 'Why would I be scared of a hat?' :(
AND NOW. A2 EXHIBITION TIMES. You were waiting for this, weren't you. A virtual trip through our progress since yesterday!!
Photos start from yesterday. Part of my coursework; lots and lots of pictures of Jane dancing with a bored expression. :D
Sofia
aire_sagrado's seven canvases piled on top of each other. We both did the theme Colour in a High Key dear god why /goes colourblind
And the painted dots finally dried so the framed roses were complete~
Detail
I really really REALLY REALLY REALLY hope these get marked soon 10th of June... orz because the roses are going to die and curl and go brown under there orzzzz
Breaktime came while we were still working, and as yesterday was our last day working on the exam... the teachers got snacks for us ;3; tea, coffee, cake and biscuits. PINK WAFERS. I hadn't had pink wafers and party rings in years...
MOVING ON!
TODAY! Putting things up/arranging stuff for the exhibition! Joy. /jazzhands. Meaning we were arranged in rough alphabetical order to put our work up for display for the examiners to see. Ungh. Included both projects - the exam project and the earlier own-choice-theme project, plus supporting work.
This is where I was having a huge crisis because- all through the year and ALL THE TIME Mrs. Standing is always saying "Work BIG, girls! WORK BIG! Work out of the sketchbook! Paint large onto giant fucking canvases! Paint whales and continents til you pass out" well maybe not but you get the gist- I've been working big. >___> So big, in fact, that not all my work fit on one space on the wall, like everyone else's did... OTL... Mine takes up a whole wall. Which I only found out I was allowed to do after I had spent an hour arranging photos, climbing onto desks, dropping and stabbing drawing pins into the wall and into my work. /CLAWWWWW
It was lovely to see everyone else's work up though, it feels like a real exhibition as the whole department pulls together and all the greenies look at the work;;; I am SO GLAD my work is inside a room out of bounds to lower years, not in the hallway...
Megan's work...
Das hallway.
Beth's work. I love it. ;;; She used old water/cleaning product spraying bottles filled with ink to get the sprayed effect.

Beth's biro portraits. Yes. BIROS. Her, Kat and Davina did a lot of drawing using biros which they eventually got sick of...
And Sofia! The artist herself with her latest work =3= I'm in the arson picture, lulz. But aaah so colourful!
Meow meow meow meow Sofia's work! 8D This is the last project, drawings of herself through the years...~
okay there was a stupid story with this. I feel entitled to make the most of my remaining time at school. So yeah, Sofia's work is right at the end of the corridor leading to the art block, meaning greenies and everyone can see it as they walk towards it. We were standing in front of it just talking and some greenies hang by and look at the coloured canvases, whispering like "oh, that looks really cool, look at that" etc. Sofia looks sheepish. I point at the portrait at the end and say (jokingly I swear) "yeah but that one looks really shit". THEIR FACES AS THEY SCURRIED OFF FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF OH GREENIES Y U SO INNOCENT :') ♥
Lauren's exam work. She does a lot of prints and cool designs like this. We're both off to Ravensbourne next year...
Suzanne's work. She's going on to do architecture, I think.
MEANWHILE, IN ROOM 11, THE REALLY REALLY ARTISTIC PEOPLE DISPLAY THEIR GLORY
Davina's work /o/
Sapphire's AMAZING AS ALWAYS work. Apparently that main piece is her attempt at painting messily. D'aw.
WE RETURN TO ROOM 12 (where we are) TO LOOK AT A SIMILAR QUALITY OF ARTISTIC SKILL this work is Catherine's. She's.. okay (apart from missing her hospital scan yesterday) and still rocking at painting. But the fact she's okay is what's important...
Our friends have dibs on her various flower paintings. They're really pretty colours. ♥
LOOK AT MY BALLS. ...remember these? :D
It was quite nice to finally set up all my research pieces how I wanted them ♥ a-although I will never get over the sunken-in England ball;;;
Emma's work now! ahahhahaha her EPIC mechanical pencil drawings she slaved over for a good ten hours or so;;; I think her theme was Identity, the morphing of humans into animals.
A dragon, as part of the project before Emma's exam piece. Mrs. Bert helped her lots with this since apparently she makes clay dragon figurines as a second job in her spare time. I'm going to miss her technician awesomeability.
Emma's coursework-- wtf is this, you ask
GUN ON LEGS please don't ask I donated the fur
DRAGON TEAPOT /o/ or was it a crocodile? camp crocodile? /broken
The butterfly wings she constructed (hung from the ceiling for effect)
and... yes. Photos so you don't have to go. The exhibition's in school for now but I think it's "open to the public" around the end of June...
...although I'm being made to come in tomorrow as well to bring in more work WHY MORE I'M ALREADY USING 2/3 OF A WALL. Because the teachers ganged up on me and said I should bring in my life drawings. I said they were for my portfolio. They said bring them in. I said they have nothing, absolutely nothing to do with my coursework. They said bring them in. /fumes I DON'T WANNNTTT TTOOOO but they asked and well. if it ups my grade...
It's weird to think (as Sofia pointed out) that we're never going to work in the art rooms again. Tomorrow when I go back, I'll be taking home my overall that I've been using since GCSE. :/ I've only discovered the other half of the art block's resources this year, it's kind of sad to be leaving it now...
I'm kind of excited about grades and beyond. Ignoring the whole exams thing. :U Instead of working I'm watching countless Vocaloid videos and Lady Gaga things...
