Fandom, Notes

My incredibly intense summer job has ended; I now have two weeks of mostly-vacation, staying in a lovely house in the country and looking after three sweet cats while their person is away. Priorities: reading a lot, writing a lot, sleeping a lot, getting outdoors, cooking real food, lazing about with cats. Ahhh. Did I mention reading a lot? And ( Read more... )

Ah, that sounds like a lovely way to spend two weeks! I'm with those people, I still love Cabin pressure to bits and am writing not one but two fics in the fandom right now! :)

Hey, hi! I don't think we've officially met/introduced ourselves, but we share both Sherlock and Cabin Pressure interests, right?

I'm pretty sure Cabin Pressure will be one of my favorite things forever...I re-listen to episodes all the time, and they're no less wonderful no matter how many times I hear them. Genius, that Finnemore!

(He's doing a live show this autumn and I almost toyed with the idea of going to the UK just for that reason...)

*laughs* Oh, right, I remember that I meant to say something but then I didn't, um, so yes: nice to meet you! ;) Sherlock and Cabin Pressure are my main fandoms, but I'm with you in Doctor Who, Torchwood and Harry Potter as well!

And I know, I saw John Finnemore last year twice for his Souvenir programme recordings, but this year the dates just didn't work out... I would have LOVED to have been there. Aw. He's so nice, too!

Ha, then we indeed share many fandoms, as well as a deep appreciation of John Finnemore! I've seen your name around, so it's nice to "meet" you. :-) Gonna friend you back!

Sounds like you've got a very nice change of pace after your last hectic job! Lazing about with cats -- in a hammock, no less -- while reading, writing, and catching up with things to watch all sounds really, really nice. I imagine the weather's getting better, too, where you are -- it's even starting to get a little better where I am. (I really hate the summer heat!)

I need to make sure I finish reading those last couple of chapters of Lantern so that I'm ready when you start posting Part II. ;) I have to admit I've been writing more than reading lately, which just means I have a list of lots of stuff I'm looking forward to.

It's been amazing. I really had forgotten how to just relax. I'm not very good at that in general! I'm not a huge fan of overly hot weather either, in general, but in this case I was so happy the hot summer weather lasted just a few days past the end of my job, so I could get to enjoy a little of it. I was sad that I got no summer at all this year, since I was working too much to enjoy it or do any outdoors things. So I got my wish, I did get my few days of high summer this past week, then a wonderful rainstorm came and broke the heat, and now it's raining steadily and very cozy.

Lantern is coming! Soon! I'm a quarter of the way through the final edit, mercilessly paring unnecessary infodumps(!) and hope to start posting pretty soon.
