BE THE LIGHT IN MY LANTERN
Summary: In which Remus and Tonks fight battles, arrest criminals, befriend werewolves, overcome inner demons and, despite it all, find themselves a happy ending. A love story, and a story of the Order years. (At long last, my Remus/Tonks epic, which has been years in the making!)

This is off to a cracking start. I like the use of the different POV; it's fun to see Tonks intrigued and wondering why, Remus being open and slightly surprised at it, and Sirius some way ahead of them both already. Straight away they seem to be discussing things that are important to them (Tonks admitting her attraction to the 'glamour' of being an Auror; the memory of James and the Sorting Hat), and it's almost a shame when Remus gets something of a wake up call when Tonks asks about her mother. LOL.
I like the way you end with the 'Nymphadora' moment as well. It's all very light and teasing, but the seeds of friendship are already there.

18 chapters, heh. That's only Part 1 (the OotP year). The story as a whole (OotP + HBP) looks to be about 40 chapters, all told. :-)

Loved Remus's self-assessment: "sensible when I should have been more fun, and irresponsible when I should have been setting a good example, I'd say."Thought it worked well to have Remus find himself telling Tonks all about his past this way -- it signals how comfortable he feels with her already, to let himself open up that much. And that was also a great way to show how perceptive Tonks is, that she caught on right away what all that must have been like for Remus ( ... )

I'm glad this chapter works for you as an introduction to their dynamic - I wrote these early parts of the story so, so long ago, and I can no longer tell if it works!
And yup, Sirius' perspective on Remus and Tonks is a favorite thing of mine. :-) Hmm, will Sirius be proven right in some fashion, one wonders...?
