Last night I went with listersgirl and SFD to see Potted Potter, an unauthorized parody of the Harry Potter books, seven books in 70 minutes. It is always interesting how differently people start w/ cooking things. Roast chicken was just about the first real meal I learned to make, ever, back when I was 10 or 11- something my mother could leave instructions for that we could do after school if she was out, because it was so very simple. On the other hand, I never made a popover, which is supposed to be perfect for even little kids to try, until I was past 30, or a pie crust till I was 40. It's all so completely a matter of what other people happened to show you when you were growing up, it seems like.

It is interesting. A family friend I was talking to said she has a friend who won't let her kids move out until they know how to roast a chicken! :)

My paranoia about touching raw meat probably did not help.

This is the second time recently that I've clicked on someone's books post WITHOUT EVEN REALISING that one of mine was on there. Yay, I am so glad you enjoyed it!

Also, my dad gets a couple of mentions in the Judi Dench book...

Hooray! (And I hadn't noticed but it's possible I skimmed past the "more names of people you don't know", heh.)

I just couldn't NOT say something! She didn't seem impressed but maybe over time she'll realize why I was annoyed?

I haven't read any Neal Stephenson, ever... they're too big!! :)
