ah I pulled myself out of be to go to kev's hockey game (which is like a free trip to the dentist for me) and then brunch, which I was kind of looking forward to. But apparently the game was at 8 and the brunch is more of a team thing. So I'm not sorry I missed it but I'm sort of stuck awake and without anything I want/need to do. *shrug* I'm writing a voluntary essay for Zim and I think I'll watch some matrix later to tie into the essay. She loves being "cross-works" and it always makes you look brainy ^^.
Well it's vacation... um, yay. vacation. There's a retreat St.Mary's is doing tuesday into wednesday that I'd like to go on, I've already missed two or so to be with family and what not, so I'm glad to be actually going. Other than that, Kayla and I wanted to swap animes, annie Gillian and I are hoping to have a day of musicals, And I want to spend a day with kev, since i'm supposed to be watching him, I wanted to go out to a movie but there doesn't really look like anything we'd both like, so we'll see. Oh and next SAunday is the little league parade that the marching band always plays in. >.< not fun, but the senoirs are sodedicated they come the morning after prom, so none of us have a legitamate excuse.
As for going to New York, it was really awesome. It wasn't reallly until I got home that I reallized how cool it had been, I just sort of ran around when I was there saying "oh yeah this is New York, of course there's the Empire State Building, and Yoko Ono's appartment. " It wasn't untill I got home that I reallized that I really had been al those increadible places, so it was cool.
On the trip We watched Big Daaay (which was much better than I expected) and Austin Powers - The Spy Who Shagged Me, which was amusing. We stopped in the Seaport Plaza first and shopped around, there was a poster store that was really cool and a store intirely dedicated to purple (Rhaindra was very happy^^). then we went to the hotel where the fire alarm went of >.< and we had to stand out in the rain, but that was ok because after that we went to the Hard Rock Cafe. Annie was singing to all the songs and I knew most of them, ooh and I got a veggie burger! yay! I like them ^^. Next we went to see "Wicked". I was driven crazy because the lead had an understudy, but also a stand in, and the stand in was doing the performance tonight, so i was really curious as to why the usual lead wasn't there and how they had anticipated she wouldn't be. Anyway, the play itself was awesome.
It was all about the wicked witch of the west from The Wizard of Oz, and how she had never been wicked but she just went through alot of bad stuff and had alot of lies told about her, it's sort of hard to explain but it was really cool, I highly recomend the sound track. Gillian and I got it at the play, the fact that it was overpriced was ok because we split the cost and I burned it ^^.
After the play we went back to the hotel and -surprisingly enough- to bed. I was in a room with Nikki (my pic section leader) Michelle (aka meish nikki's best friend) and annie. So it was all good. we got a wake up call at 7 and slowly got up, I had Wilkomen stuck in my head and found out Meish loves that play to so we all started reeling of lines and songs from Cabaret. That was fun. Breakfast was good, annie and I got to talk with Brogan a little which is always a pleasure. I think he really likes these trips.
After Breakfast we went to Rockafeller center and I split off from annie and Gillian to go to St.Patricks Cathedral with Sarah (Pileeki) that was really beautiful, very elaborate. While I was ther I got a necklace with a red dove (representing the Holy Spirit) on it, Really like it and am wearing it now as a matter of fact. After that we went to Time Square, which I love. Annie, Gillian Peter (Heinz), Rhiandra, and I all stuck together and went in the Toys "R" Us with the ferris wheel and had lunch in this great little deli/cafe off one of the main streets. It was so good!
Next we went to Virgin records where i got "Wicked" the novel, and Gillian and Annie got Audry Hepburn DVDs (they're odsessed shhh!) We had to dart out of there because we needed to meet Brogan at the theater for the Lion king by 12:30. The Lion King wasn't as good as Wicked in my opinion but we were all tired and it was more geared towards families. The costumes and set were really complicated and really cool.
That was the end of our travels in New york so we hoped back on the bus, watched Ten Things I Hate about you (in which she hates more than 10 things about him, my count was 14, but anyway..) stopped in McDonalds, and started the Franco Zepharelli version of Romeo and Juliet, but we only got to the tower scene and there were alot of people mocking it, I didn't mind to much on the whole.
So ther you have it, past present and future all in one unusually long post, at least for me.... um, The End!
Lauren
