So, I mentioned that I went to a candlelight vigil at City Hall last night and that I'd update afterward. It was nice - there were several high profile local, state, and GLBT community speakers, sharing in our sadness, but building hope that the fight will continue until the war is won. It was inspiring, actually. I feel like this is only a matter ( Read more... )

People also need to get their heads around the idea that it isn't about something that happens in the bedroom. As it about who we want to share our love with.

Ask any married heterosexual guy.. they did not get married because of what happens in the bedroom.

I was going to comment about being upset that I'm twice as far from SF now, but hooray for Sacramento! I will definitely try to make it to that.

Do you have more details? I found a friend who is interested in going, too, so chances are I'll be able to make it. So... you should go to the one in Sac too :)

So far, I only know it's at 1pm and it's at the Capitol Building. I don't know if there is going to be a march or if it's just a rally, but a place and time is most important, right?

I'm really going to try to go. Our original plan for this weekend was to go to the Corn Maze on sat night, but this is more important to me and also includes going out to Davis - so we'll see. I'll definitely let you know if I'm going.

I am going over there, too. I can meet you at your place at 5pm. I can't stay long--got a dinner meeting at 6:15 south of market, but wanted to support as much as I could.

Ok, I don't know if anyone else is meeting here or not, since it's starting right at the station, but I'll head over with you if you want. I figure I'll leave here at 5:15 to walk over.

See you there.

Good for you! It's important to make a statement now - not only to California and the country, but to ourselves. The war isn't over. We may have lost this battle, it may take longer and be harder than we had hoped, but we will not give up and we will win. We are not going to just quietly accept discrimination or second class status.
I wish I was out there now to march with my brothers and sisters, but know that my heart is with you all.
