Daniel doesn’t do anything each year on the anniversary of Sha’re’s death. Doesn’t light a candle in her memory. Doesn’t try to drown his pain, or lose himself in images of vibrant laughter and fierce desert passion. Only says “I’m fine”, when his teammates, conscious of the date, ask him yet again if he needs to talk.
Partly, it’s because he knows he really lost her the day Amaunet first invaded her body and raped her mind and soul. Mainly though? It’s because all those weeks and months he lived during the seconds Teal’c shot her made normal mourning... complicated.
