So, I got my hands on some wool combs.
These are
metachaos's Craftsmith 4-pitch English combs. She came over and just left them with me for a bit (oh how she unreasonably trusts me). They are pretty heavy (29 oz.) and pretty big (coffee cup for scale).
I brought home two pounds of
unwashed Romney from Maryland Sheep and Wool and washed it by hand. It ended up being about 20 oz
after washing. I tried out the combs on it, with good results (as in, it mostly got rid of the
sheep dander).
I also tried blending some Lincoln and mohair locks, which have turned into a bit of a mess and are sitting in a box until I feel like dealing with them again. Possibly when I get my own set of combs.
This week's spinning was the California Red that I
split up and dyed half.
Spun woolen in order to practice my longdraw technique. It still isn't great, but I won't improve if I don't do it. I need to find some simple little colorwork project to knit with them since I have two ounces or less of each color.
Currently spinning up a romeldale x romney roving that was dyed a lovely green for me and very yummy to spin. I look forward to the finished yarn.
