I've been spinning but not posting...

"Gin and Tonic" romney by Spunky Eclectic.

4 oz roving, 3-ply, spun on Fricke.

Handled wonderfully. Boogie dyes up the nicest fibers. Spun three singles and then plied. Still need to learn the balance of spinning for singles vs. spinning for plying. Love what 3-ply does with the colors, although I find it currently hard to spin a thin enough single on the wheel for it. I'll have to practice some more so I can eventually make a three-ply sock yarn. Yardage is a bit short on this (a bit above 100 yards I think).

Moorit Shetland by Ashland Bay Fibers

A bit under 2 oz., single, spun on Fricke.

Trying out shetland wool and single spinning. Definitely not well versed in spinning a lone single, although it is nice and and soft to the touch. Drifted apart many times during winding off and skeining, so this is something I need to work on more. Still, it is a nice little sample and I'd like to spin some more shetland in the future.

I also got a new spindle by Tracy Eichheim. He finally reopened his shop, so I placed an order for this lovely spindle.

Heavier than I normally use (somewhere in the area of 1.6-1.7 oz.), but it is a delight to spin. Incredibly long and stable spin when I thigh-roll it. I think this will be a magnificent plying spindle once I have enough singles for it.
