I was jarred out from under my rock today when I learned The Get Up Kids are having a reunion tour, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Something to Write Home About. Now, to my ordinary, non-idiosyncratic readers, that means absolutely nothing. To me, however, it's a chance to relive my youth, and to recapture memories of some of the fondest years of my life.
I think it might just be time to dust off my faded old band t-shirts, my spiked belts, and my black vans. There's something in the first few chords of Holiday that reminds of the kid I was back in 1998-2004, long before I realized my limitations (and long before I got sucked into this lawyer nonsense). I still feel more comfortable in a black punk band shirt than a suit. I think I always will. And that's exactly why I belong at one of these shows.
. . .
Anyone want to tag along?
