The picture of the young boy is as heartbreaking as it beautiful. I totally agree with everything you said here, I worry about what kind of world my future children will have to pave their own way in.

Yes, it is very tragic. His photo won second, some other photo won first, but I feel his was more deserved:) Either way, when it comes to work it is hard to tell what the economic structure will be like in the future or even next year. Depending on work is not great:(

Bush's tax cut is obviously due to his notion that doing so would somehow provide the incentives for businesses to work harder and thus result in higher rates of economic growth.

Too bad amongst countries with relatively egalitarian income distributions such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore have grown very quickly and much faster than the United States and the United Kingdom where income is less equally distributed.

Too bad Bush has never realised that we do not have a burst of productivity growth in the United States since the mid-1970s because we have reduced welfare and cut back on progressive taxation; instead, growth has slowed whilst inequality has widened.

Too bad on the other side, land reform and income redistribution to the poor have been associated with faster economic growth in Third World countries.

Certainly too bad he is re-elected.

Well Bush's incentive to push businesses to work harder is also going to break poverty level even lower. Basically he will be having the poor people pay to support the poor while the businesses continue their business. Because he also wants to raise taxes for the middle/lower class. How about give those guys some jobs in business then try giving them tax cuts as a benefit. :) Kerry sorta was going to do that in his plan for corporations using other countries as their work ground.

i like the slower paced values in europe, with less workweek hours... i like to be around people who appreciate that you work to live, not live to work.

the american dream has been perverted... i don't agree that this is the same america i was born into. its values have changed a lot.

Values have changed. Many people have to work overtime or need to for extra money. Thankfully I don't work too long of hours but that doesn't mean forever, I have no real bills right now.
