the wonders of peer pressure
I had to do a lot of kowtowing in the office just to be able to go on vacation this week, and look at how I squander my precious time: creating a Facebook account.
This is after I brought with me an encyclopedic collection of science fiction and fantasy stories, complete copies of various anime, philosophy essays and books, as well as Borges's collected non-fictions and Eco's book 'Turning Back the Clock'. You'd think that I'd be spending my time in a more intelligent manner, right?
Wrong -- because it's much easier to go on a brain-idle mode and waste hours answering inane quizzes, with mind-boggling titles such as "what element are you" and "which evil villain are you".
Given their addictive and mind-crippling qualities, they ought to be outlawed, LOL.
