So you know what really grinds my gears? When people just don't get that something is supposed to be funny. Like people who don't get it when they're watching a satire. Or people who are just really really stupid when it comes to movie genres etc. The people who say, "I like movies with lots of violence and explosions and car chases, so I hated this movie," and it turns out that they're talking about Akeelah and the Bee (remember that movie? It was good!). I look at those people and think, WTF? Why did you go and see that movie in the first place then? Did you not know it was about a spelling bee? Except it is good to try and expose yourself to different films. I've been doing that a lot lately. I used to like romantic comedies and Disney films only, but I've moved so far away from that with films like Amelie and Watchmen.
Grrr arg! I just think you need to know your movie before you see it. If you're in the wrong mindset, it might ruin it for you.
For example, I was totally not in the mood for a movie like Enemy of the State last night, but I watched it anyway (or most of it) on TV because Seth Green is in it. It's a small part and all he does is sit in front of a computer screen spying on Will Smith and communicating with government people. I liked him in it though. But I didn't finish watching it. I might rent it on DVD some time later, when I'm more in the mood for a movie that is a loooooooong chase scene.
wtf,
