I finally started visiting the library again, and I picked up some movies today. I haven't gone out to the theaters yet, even though I still want to see Slumdog Millionaire. I checked out:

Ed Wood
Becoming Jane
The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
The Five People You Meet in Heaven

I'll write about Ed Wood more later, since I'm supposed to be watching The Muppet Show with my sister right now (yeah, I've been watching TV on DVD instead of movies- Buffy anyone?). But I will leave you with my Twitter reactions that I had during the movie:

beebecca OMG OMFG Drusilla is in 'Ed Wood!' I just shattered my voice for screaming too loud. The actress's name is Juliet Landau. I LOVE Drusilla! about 4 hours ago from web

beebecca "Oh my goodness, you gave me the willies. You look like that Dracula guy."-Receptionist in 'Ed Wood' about 3 hours ago from web

beebecca What a great movie. about 1 hour ago from web

The reason I'm posting this right now is because my sister and I may have a movie night tonight before Neil Patrick Harris hosts Saturday Night Live (Yay!). This is sort of an intro post I guess. And tomorrow there may be a very long post about each movie. Plus I have something that's been bugging me to write about-

Without a Paddle 2: Nature's Calling is either coming out or is out on DVD. I don't know which since I don't give a crap. (If you've read this journal before, you know that I enjoyed Without a Paddle, which I watched for Seth Green.) *sigh* I detest straight-to-DVD sequels. They are such a waste of time and space (sometimes I guess). Especially since WaP2 doesn't have Seth, Matt, and Dax in it. They made the first movie work. They had such great chemistry and they were so funny together. WaP wasn't the greatest movie in the world, but it had a place. A lot of people liked it. I liked it. A sequel with new characters is just so stupid! That's why it's going to DVD instead of theaters. Why do people waste their time on those types of movies? Well, maybe someone would argue why waste time on the first movie? Like I said, the first one was good for that genre and the casting was perfect. It was entertaining (duh Seth Green stars in it). It's just a fun movie. Well, isn't WaP2 just a fun movie? No, it's a stupid crappy movie hoping to grab the audience of the first movie to get $$$$$$ (or at least that's how I see it. Maybe I'm biased?). Sorry, that's not going to happen. There's a difference between a stupid movie like Without a Paddle (stupid in a good way) and a crappy movie like Without a Paddle 2. I haven't even seen this movie... I'm terrible. I suck. I should watch it before I say these things... I shouldn't be this annoyed by this, should I. Well, I'm ranting. I guess what I mean to say is, WaP was a typical comedy movie that had a great cast (like Sex Drive), while WaP2 is one of those DVD sequel movies that seem to be thrown together hastily without any effort. And no one cares about them. Why would you care about a WaP2 that doesn't continue the story of the characters we came to love? Well, characters I came to love. Maybe I'm just biased... But I still do hate worthless sequels.

I found this snippet in an interview with Seth about WaP:

Without A Paddle (2004)-"Dan Mott"
SG: Without A Paddle is one of the best experiences I've had making a movie, but also the hardest movie I've ever made, because it was so physical. And cold. And exhausting. And everything in that movie is us in our underwear in some kind of unforgiving environment. But three months isolated in different areas of New Zealand with Matt Lillard and Dax Shepard-I couldn't have been happier. We just had fun every day. It was a really, really great experience.
