How's everyone's summer been?
Mine's been fantastic. I've been avoiding doing the whole posting thing simply because of how long and tedious this post'll have to be, lol.
so I'll just put it under a cut and y'all can read it later.
So...as soon as I came home, I had to start packing my bags for a different trip. I had just gotten in contact with my dad in about October or November of last year, and I promised him I would spend some time up there with him, his wife, and a 4 year old step brother I didn't know I had *jumps* joy...
So, I hop on a plane, at like 5 in the morning, first class, and fly up to Georgia, where I promptly pass out as soon as I get up there. I wake up around 12, and spend some time with my ah...'family.' The house is small, but very pretty, and their cat, named 'Smokey' after their kid saw my kitty 'Ash' and wanted one, was very friendly.
After about two days here, we get to go to Trinidad. Trinidad and Tobago are two small islands that are right off the coast of South America. So, after a long and tedious travel there...I'm amazed by where I come from.
It's so beautiful there, guys. oh I wish I'd taken more pictures. On the Saturday, we decide to go to the beach...now...beaches here..are nothing compared to beaches of the Caribbean islands. We have to travel over the mountains to get to the beach...and it was simply breathtaking.
The water was incredible, and I had a wonderful time. Now...Trinidad is kind of third world, but not really. They have electricity, music and all that, but it is kind of poor. 20 US Dollars=120 TT money, so you have an idea. But it doesn't stop the culture from thriving.
Turns out I have an extended family. VERY extended, as I found out on the Sunday. I have 4 uncles, and a load of cousins and nephews running around all over the place. The food was..ah...different. *recalls fondly eating spiced chicken feet and this greenish substance called 'Callaloo'. It was all good though. ^_^
When I came back though, I had to suffer through a week of dealing with my step brother. And was very, very glad to come back home. Although, I'm thinking about planning a trip back to Trinidad next summer. I really like it there. It feels like home.
Then..when I came back, I went to Orlando. DCI...was....amazing...absolutely spectacular. and now I really want to be a part of Carolina Crown...they're absolutely incredible and I love them. Besides..I have a flight card...I can fly back and forth to North Carolina. ^_^
Anyways. I'm tutoring M-W-F for the rest of the summer on mellophone. Jaqita...I kinda need to talk to you, but you're no answering your phone or such. If you are doing mello next year, I have your music and things.
Speaking of music...anyone know how to get mail to Magic of Orlando? I missed Michelle trying to get out of the traffic before DCI, and I need to mail her her music.
