OOC Canon Sto References
Okay, so here's a collation of all the stuff that I can find out about Sto and Astrid's past, which isn't much, so I'll be doing alot of improvisation.
If anyone has any ideas to fill in any gaps, especially on the life expectancy thing, then I would love any input ^_^ And of course anything I missed, or any nice little imaginative additions.
Oh and just for fun Chibi Astrid + stardust and a teleport bracelet because I'm a bit geeky like that.
- Located in the Casivanian Belt.
- Cyborg prejudice - but it's on the way out - Astrid tells Bannakaffalatta that a Law was passed allowing cyborgs marriage licences.
- Advanced technology, teleportation, space cruiseliners with nuclear storm drives.
- Astrid worked at the spaceport diner for three years.
- Culture isn't so different to Earth, Mr Copper was a traveling salesman, Astrid a waitress etc.
- Vastly different animal population. Foon Van Hoff had no idea what a buffalo was.
- Industry/Service mostly robotic - The Van Hoffs worked at the Milk Market and attested to it being mostly robot staff. The Host on board the RMS Titanic were also robots.
- Currency - Credits - Exchange Rate £1;50 credits.
- Astrid has no family back on Sto - Presume she's an only child and parents are dead - easier that way.
- I'm a little confused on life expectancy. Max Capricorn states he had been running the company for 176 years, which although can be explained by his 'life support' system, becomes undone as a possible argument when you factor in his need to run the company as a hologram because of Sto's cyborg prejudice. Morvin states that he and Foon would have to work for seventy years to pay off 5000 credits. (which if the Doctor's conversion rates are accurate is £100) - so either serious error in canon continuation or they have VERY low wages. That said, years are measured by orbits around the sun, and Sto travels round an entirely different sun/suns. Hmmm, jury is still out on that one.
- Space-age fraud = 10 years in prison. Police department.
- Native Sto citizens appear to have very similar biological make-up to humans. Although species from other planets reside there.
