Alternate after Tristan waking up from being a mouse.

Yvane was quiet; she lay in the filled tub, thinking of the words she had said to Tristan. Once and a while, she glanced around the corner of the portable canvas that was between the tub and the bed. Every time she looked, he had shifted the tiniest bit, like a finger, or a lock of hair had gone to another side of the forehead. At the sight of him, she instantly remembered that moment when he was a mouse, and she had confessed to him that she loved him. She kept thinking of how stupid she sounded, but then worried if he possibly could have understood her, then, she assured that there was no way, if he desired cheese.

Once in a while, she was broken out of her day dreaming, by moans from the other side of the visage, but this was no moan like she had heard of before. “Thump”. Fallowing was a distinct grunt. The square holes of the visage allowed her to partly see through, she could tell that Tristan was face up on the floor. Yvane gasped, knowing that he was already off balance from his transformation, and started to get out of the tub. She stood up, and wrapped a towel around herself and at that moment heard a faint high pitched giggle. “Tristan?” said Yvane as she peered around the corner. Another giggle. Yvane put on a bath robe, and slowly walked over to the bed. A hand reached up from the floor onto the bed and grasped the sheets, as if Tristan was trying to pull him self up. Then, another giggle, his hand fell back down. Yvane cocked her head to the left in curiosity. She finally could see him, and as their eyes met, he stopped laughing, trying to keep back a grin. “Tristan, what is wrong with you?” she said shaking her head, producing a one sided smile. She tried to forget what had happened in the cart, and come to the present.

Yvane shook her head, still trying to hold back a smile, not being successful. She stood over Tristan, taking his hand in his, and with effort pulled him up onto the bed. His feet were still on the floor, but the rest of him was under support of the bed. Tristan also was not successful in holding back a grin. Yvane, who had just gotten out her bath, didn’t have time to dry her hair, so she returned to the sink, which was located between the visage and the bed. Tristan looked over toward Yvane, noticing her head turn away from him as he had looked over. He was completely aware what she had said, and was feeling giddy like a child playing tag. Yvane began to brush her long golden hair. He thought, “Now is my chance!” for as he was on the bed moaning, he was actually faking. He was really wide awake; from the time he had been turned back into a man. Even as Yvane had gotten into the tub, witch seemed like hours ago. He had used that time to think of what he should say to Yvane, letting her know that he heard what she had said to him.

“Well, here it goes” he thought. Tristan stood up, almost falling over as he did. He leaned on the wall and made his way to Yvane. He stopped about 5 feet from her. He took a deep breath, hesitated, “Did you really mean what you said in the caravan?” At mid sentence, Yvane looked over amazed that he was actually talking. Long silence. “What I...” said Yvane. Yvane’s eyes grew wider and brighter, almost making Tristan think they were stars themselves. “But….. You were a mouse!” said Yvane, “You wanted cheese!” Yvane was stuttering with words, and sounded quite humiliated. She covered her mouth with both hands. “I asked you to give me a sign!”Yvane said, pushing out a large breath of air as she was mid sentence. Then she turned away from Tristan, as if to hide her emotions. “And keep you too embarrassed to say such lovely things?” said Tristan as he let another giggle take over. Yvane as well started to giggle, very short, but yes, a giggle. Yvanes face was hidden by her long hair, for her head was bowed, hands still covering her face.

Tristan, moved towards Yvane, whose hands still covered her mouth. Her eyes could have been seen a mile away. “Tristan you moron!” she said with a giggle. She then grabed a pillow, and started to smash it over Tristan’s head.

But to grab the pillow, Yvane had to remove her hand from her mouth, showing the most aggravated, embarrassed, foolish, and happiest smile Tristan had ever seen from anyone.

Tristan placed his hands on Yvane’s forearms, and put his forehead to hers.

He sighed.

“Do you want to know what the captain really said to me that day?” Yvanes eyes grew even wider, she nodded. “He said that my true love was right in front of my eyes”. At the words “true love” Yvanes head began to glow, and her eyes started to sparkle. Her smile started to grow, like the sky grows brighter as the sun rises. Her smile was the biggest he had seen since the time the captain had crashed the front of the ship into the water on purpose. “He was right”.
