Just found out this morning that Kitty, the coolest 83-year old we've ever met, passed away last Thursday. :(
We had gotten e-mail about her not doing too well health-wise a week or so ago and just last night Pam and I were talking about visiting her this coming weekend when we will both be in town. Shortly after Pam and I hung up (last night) she read in her e-mail that she had passed away... what a timing...
Kitty, 83-year young, and her husband, Will, were the cutest couple we've ever met. I've always said that if we live to be as old as they, we want to be just like them!
Kitty taught high school Spanish for 33 years... she has touched a lot of lives... I know she has touched mine, and Pam's as well. Since she retired from teaching, she has been big on collecting children's books, both in Spanish and English, so she can give those to children who are in need of books. I can still remember one time when I showed up at her door with boxes of books we got from various sources, she was so excited that she was still talking about it the next week we saw her :)
The Barbara Bush Parenting Center in College Station will be opening a special library in her honor. Just think, she will continue to touch lives even after she has moved on!
I've known her for about 10-years and Pam has known her for probably 4-5 years. She has written Pam a recommendation letter last year and we know she wrote the sweetest things about Pam (which are all true, but it sounds so much better coming from something like Kitty!).
Although we don't run into them as much lately since I don't live in College Station any more, any time we run into them, she always has the biggest smiles and always insists on hugging!
We will truly miss her... but we will always remember her loving memories.
There'll be a mariachi band at the memorial services tomorrow - yep, that's exactly how Kitty would've liked it. Anybody that knows her would agree it is perfect. It'll be sad, but neat at the same time.
