Aimee's Wedding

Aug 30, 2006 22:07

so Pam's friends Aimee (well she's really my friend too, but her friend first!) and Jeffery got married over the weekend (Saturday). Pam was one of the bridesmaids so she has stuff lined up for her starting at Friday morning at 9am, which means she had to be in Houston the night before just to get there on time on Friday morning... so we both decided to get to Houston on Thursday night. It made last week a short week, not bad!

Anyways... so Pam had pedicure/manicure/Mimosa party at 9am, then Bridal lunch at 12... and at 6 we went to the Rehearsal at the church. The church is St. Mary's Catholic in La Porte... personally I have never been to La Porte so that was kinda neat. It's even neater when we went to the rehearsal dinner after that, which was in the San Jacinto Monument Park... definitely haven't been there but I need to go back there sometime to visit!

Anyhow.. the rehearsal went alright I suppose... although the wedding planner was horrible. She didn't act/sound/look like she knew what was going on... in fact... I think it would've been better if anyone else ran it... I think half of the bridal party were confused of what to do because she didn't know what's going on! At any rate, they went through the whole process twice and everyone seemed happy so we moved on to the dinner portion!

Dinner was hat-themed... meaning everyone was supposed to wear a hat. Aimee was really worried that noone would wear a hat since it wasn't mentioned in the invitation. Quite impressively, everyone showed up with a hat on! In fact, there were some fancy and unusual hats there :) I ended up wearing the drug-dealer looking hat that Pam's dad got from South America, and Pam ended up wearing a fun black hat with ruffles (sorry the picture doesn't show pam's hat too well).

Anyways, dinner went well and we got to meet some of Aimee/Jeffrey's relatives, so that was interesting.

After the dinner we went back to Pam's parents' house to hang out for a bit, then headed to Aimee's house to hang out. Aimee's two cousins from Canada were there - Justin and Nathan. Those two guys are good kids, although Justin sometimes shows his youth, i.e. commenting on which girl is hot or has a butterface, etc... hello... sometimes you might want to keep that to yourself. At any rate, the girls obviously heard what he said and were all curious about who he thought was hot or not...

anyways... so while Aimee was packing for honeymoon, the rest of us (the canadian boys, louise, pam and me, and emily) just hung out and printed and folded the wedding programs. We finally finished that around 3am...

did I mention the girls have hair appointment at 8am? oh yeh next morning at 8:15 Pam got a phone call from Louise to see where she was... oops. Pam hurried off to the hair salon while I slept in, can't complain there ;) Poor Pam though... she came home having a bad headache... and with little to no sleep she wasn't feeling too good. Thankfully after some drugs and a little nap she felt a little better.

1pm rolled around and it was time to get to the church to get ready... wedding started at 3pm. We hurried off to the church and while the girls were getting ready... I just sat in the sanctury waiting and being bored.. but time actually flew by pretty fast... soon enough the church was filled with friends and family and badad bing badad boom Aimee and Jeffery were wedded :) It was a beautiful ceremony and most importantly it wasn't really that long at all. After our previous catholic wedding (elizabeth's wedding), Pam and I were both dreading another catholic wedding. I actually stayed awake in this one. I guess it helps to have a good priest or something :) Aimee was beautiful and Jeffrey was beaming, expectedly. I am gonna hold off on posting pictures of those two since they might not want to have pictures of themselves on the web... but here is a picture of my beautiful wife:

The reception was 2 minutes away from the church, right by the water. Coincidentally, Pam's parents had been to this place, years ago, for their prom!

Pam's mom and I were on some sort of competition (not intentionally) to see who took more picture. I want to say I won but I am actually not sure. At any rate... I took a lot of pictures... for our wedding we were lucky to have a couple of friends taking a lot of pictures for us (aside from the professional pictures)... so I thought it was a good idea to do the same for Aimee. No matter how good the photographer is, he/she obviously can't get everything, you know. I am mad at myself for forgetting to turn the microphone on my camera on... so all these videos I took (that i was quite proud of) have no sound :( Ah well!

Anyways... Pam and I danced a bunch at the reception... and the photographer loved us for some reason :) I suppose it helps to be the first couple to dance after the First Dance and Father/Daughter dance :)

The reception was a long one... it got to the point that the newly-wed has already left yet the party was still going on.... we even played this odd musical chair game, where the guys just sat on the chair doing nothing, while the ladies circled around trying to find a guy to sit on... it was a bit strange... but I was second to last guy out... all because I was older than him, grrr.

We ended up helped taking down all the decorations, etc... so by the time we left it was well after 11pm... talking about a loong day...

but it was a good day!
