Summary: New Game Plus / FFX & FFX-2 / Following the final battle, Shuyin the Unsent breaks Baralai on the wheel, whom falls into a coma. Yuna dreamwalks to recollect the fragments of his broken mind only to unearth a bond long forgotten. Shuyin/Baralai/Yuna/Lenne, Tidus.
Chapter 2 ~ Remembrance I [Yuna dreamwalks through the earthen borders of his mind, boots passing the reaches of reality and into the reemergence of a sunlit memory.]
Chapter 3 ~ Remembrance II [By the time Baralai departs with such bittersweet sorrow in his gait, Yuna reaches for cold air. From the foggy abyss, Braska emerges alongside his wife and Guardians.] Three more chapters before we wrap up Act I, and there are three Acts in total. I have ten chapters outlined for Act II, and Act III will probably be around 4-6 chapters long. Once I can get through the entire Act I, the other two will be much easier to write since Act II follows the actual game in contrast to Act I, which I'm writing mostly based on painstaking amount of canon and imagination. Act III has a similar writing dynamic to Act I, except Act I will establish the stage for the final arc, and arrggh! I'm rambling.
Anticipate Chapter 4 ~ Inner Child, Inner Demon! Here is an excerpt:
Magic accumulates in lethal amount until fingertips snap with a flourish. Darkness flares bright. Flesh suffers wicked frostbite, machina experiences swift corrosion, and not even their shaded goggles can block the white-hot flashes that induce instantaneous blindness. Explosions erupt inside the chamber, searing cold blue bodies beyond hope of salvation, and black smoke permeates the spark-laden air. Baralai disorients victims near the brunt of his might and the majority of Guado exterminate survivors, banishing weakened Aeons and Al Bhed from the living realm.
The death knell tolls to the number of souls fated to fall. Baralai holds his breath, unable to breathe, unable to close his eyes or shut his ears from the sight and sound of macabre -- and he screams.
“Stop! Stop! You’re killing them! You’re killing them all~!”
Utter hysteria threatens to drown out his voice. No longer feeling the need to detain him, Baralai detaches from his young self who curls into the fetal position and cradles himself. Braska contemplates the cruelty of a single man while witnessing the memory of his daughter’s capture, helpless to have protected her like a father should.
"Ajanouha ihtan! Ajanouha ihtan!... Ajanouha ihtan!..."
“...Are these... your true feelings... no, this is... self-loathing...”
Baralai looms over him, hand outstretched and glowing white. “Suffer.”
Anyways, as always, this Yunalai epic is dedicated to
ladyshiba.
