About time for another post

Aug 15, 2011 21:16

I guess this is just how it's going to be from now on. Little spurts of posts once or twice a month...all done in bullet points, just basic events that happened. Whatever. This is my LiveJournal so these are my rules.

- I start work at the bookstore tomorrow. I don't have to go in until 4 pm and I'm only working until 7:30, but I'm still not looking forward to it. Last summer, I left the bookstore with no intentions of returning. But finding a "real job" is hard. No one needs an illustrator that can paint whimsical teapots and cupcakes in watercolor. I'm just hoping I enter on good terms and slightly un-busy terms (if that makes any sense) because I want to say hi to people and ease back into things.

- This is super random, but my dad shaved his mustache off today. I know, no one probably cares. But listen. My dad has had a mustache my entire life. My entire 23 (almost 24 years) of living, he has had a mustache and has never shaved it. The entire time he has known my mother, he has not shaved it. So when he walks out of the bathroom this morning and looks at me, sitting on the couch and I see he has no mustache I was flabbergasted! He looks SO weird without a mustache. I hope he grows it back soon. The only reason he shaved it was because he had some rash or whatever (sorry tmi) on his upper lip and my mom said he should shave it. Bad decision. Can't rashes just go away on their own? Here's a picture of me in a mustache (super random). Someone's gotta have one.

Took this on my webcam while in Maine before we all surprised Mr. Kennedy with our fake mustaches. lol good times.

- Speaking of Maine, it's probably unhealthy how much I miss it. I still have problems getting to sleep at night because I'll just start thinking about little things that happened. I need a life. Not that I want to forget anything about that trip (I don't ever think I will), I just want to be able to sleep at night--sleep better, at least. I have dreams about it too. Yeah, I have no life.

- Good thing though, that the Sons of Turner are having their first exhibition in a few weeks. September 3rd to be exact. I have framed and matted two of my paintings that I did after the trip (because nothing I did on the trip deserved to be framed, in my opinion) : The barn with buoys and the illustration of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. I'm hoping I can get them both in the show. As long as there is room. I paid my SOT dues, so hopefully. The hardest part will be getting the paintings to my friend's house. I have to deliver them personally. Oh yeah, and the night of the show. Still no idea how I will be getting there and back. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

- I may not be able to find an art job, but I've been looking for retail positions around CL. I applied online to World Market and am in the process of filling out an application for Bath & Body Works. Fingers crossed that I may get either one of these jobs!
