(no subject)
It has been a while since I've update this so let me catch you guys up on my life. I am taking a total of 18hrs this summer in hopes to be doing practicums in the fall. So far classes are going really well.
More Current Stuff:
Saturday night I was asked to watch 5 kids for a family that I had been warned about at work. One of my co-workers had sat for them before 2 boys (one's autistic) for at least 6 hours and she was only paid $37. What made it worse was that one of the boys got sick so she called the mom, the mom said she'd be there it was 3hrs before she came back. So I had an idea going in that this might not be the best experience in the word but I work with her two kids up at the church so I'm thinking "what's the big deal?". HA! She texted me before I got there and let me know that it would be all 5 kids. She's remarrying that his kids were there too. I was going to watch them for a total of 4hrs. So I'm thinking to myself "Okay, 5 kids 4 hrs surley I will get decent pay." WRONG! Got paid $27. The bright part was, and they didn't tell me this until they came back...the last sitter that watched all 5 of the kids kept calling and texting the parents like every minuet because the kids were so horrible. I didn't have a probably with any of them! The funny thing to me was that the 2 boys who are both preschool aged were better behaved then the elementary aged ones (they took some thinking) but they were really good for me. It was funny because when I put the older kids to bed the girl looked at me and said "We're never this good for our babysitters." I finally got home around 1 o'clock in the morning. Took a "nap" and woke up at 7 because I had to be at work by 8. Worked all 3 services, kids were glad to see me (I'd been gone for 3 weeks). 3rd service had Ethan, he always cries so I get to pop in a Veggie Tales movie and he watches it and that's the end of the crying. So him and the 2 other kids I had (which was nice cause I had 20 the previous service) watched the video and I went to clean. Before Nellie took over we would clean EVERYTHING with a colorox wipe but now we just put bleach water mix in a tub and soak the toys. Well the kids had brought out every toy and I didn't think much about it because I don't have to hand clean every single last one anymore. Found out 3rd service that we were out of bleach. I was not happy to have to clean the whole room and every toy in it by myself. Then by some miracle I happened to notice the girl who's next door to me was fixing to dump her bleach water I literally begged her for it and got the job done in half the time. I have learned though that I am very trusted at work and because of this to always have my phone on me because they will often leave me by myself so I had my phone on me and it was on silent.
Well today that proved to be a problem. I went to sleep all that good stuff woke up did school yada yada and decided that I would wait till my mom got off work to call her (I normally call her while she's at work), bad idea. Took a nap woke up and thought "Hmm that's strange no one's called me today." Walked in my room saw my phone light up, it was still on silent. I had 8 missed calls and 2 txts from my mom. If I ever get hurt and can't get help it won't be long till someone finds me. Mom called me I don't know how many times so did Kelli and then my Aunt and Uncle started calling me. All were very worried because I hadn't been answering my phone, I couldn't hear it to answer it. So called back mom who at this point is panicked and is calling my apartment complex to ask my landlord to check on me. Assured her I was okay and in the middle of our conversation my Aunt calls so I take her call and she told me they were fixing to load up the car and come over if they didn't hear from me soon (they live in Odessa). Oh and catch this if my mom didn't get a hold of anyone at the apartment complex she was going to call the cops. Holy cow I have never felt so bad for accidentally leaving my phone on silent. Mom was sure I was horribly hurt or dead specially since rumor has it my ex is coming back. One things for sure though from now on I'm calling her at work and for sure taking my phone off silent as soon as I get off work.
