Podfic Awareness 1

Hello, all! Lately I've been trying to get my hands on as much Harry Potter podfic as I can download, and there's not much out there, so I have also started recording my own. What's a podfic, you ask?

Podfic: it's an audio recording of a fanfic, like an audiobook, how awesome is that? Fans from all over put their voices out there so you can enjoy ( Read more... )

Would you be up for listening to my first one tomorrow?

It's taking longer than expected to edit, and I still don't have a music track yet! Where's a good tutorial for that, anyway?

I'd be more than happy to listen tomorrow (or Friday, depending on when you get it to me). I don't know of a tutorial for adding music. For me it was a little hit or miss. So... here is my mini-tutorial (which may or may not be the best way to do it).

1) open the song in question in Audacity (and save it separately as an Audacity file.
2) in your podfic, go up to tracks and "add new audio track" A new, blank track will appear below your spoken word track.
3) copy/paste the bits of song where you need to into that track (you might need to add additional white space in your reading).
4) make adjustments to the song (i.e. fading in and out, making sure that the volume is the same level as the reading, etc.).

When you export as mp3, those tracks will be merged together into a single audio mono track.
