Narnia vs. the family...

So, Christmas day I went to see The Chronicles of Narnia with my mom and my sister. This was my second time seeing it. I loved it just as much as the first time. ^_^ Talk about like a virgin. Anyway, my mom and sister have HORRIBLE taste in movies. They thought it was nothing more than a drawn-out, slow-moving morality lesson... I've heard other people give it similar reviews. I guess people are too caught up in the fact that the story mirrors some of the Bible's stories to be able to view it with an unbiased opinion. And who cares if it mirrors stories from the Bible? The story isn't preachy AT ALL (you don't ONCE hear mention of Jesus or God), and it's a good story in IT'S OWN RIGHT. I wish people could just open up their imaginations to the wonder that this story instills. Isn't that the whole POINT of a fantasy story, regardless of it's inspiration? To instill wonder and incite the imagination? It is true that it was very strong in the good vs. evil/right vs. wrong. But has there EVER been a fantasy/adventure story that WASN'T steeped in good vs. evil? Granted, there were some parts that were slightly on the cheesy side (the Father Christmas scene for one), but I have yet to see any movie that doesn't have at least SOME cheese factor involved. On the whole The Chronicles of Narnia is an excellent movie, was true to the book (from what I can remember of the book), and was very entertaining. Definitely a movie worth owning (and actually paying for).
