Summary :: She sees the slightly puzzled furrows to Kyoko-chan’s otherwise-smooth brow, hears the quiet questions (Why isn’t onii-chan home? He said he was with Tsuna-kun, but then why isn’t either of them answering their phone?), thinks that perhaps the answers would come kindest from her own lips.
She will not tell her.
She sees the slightly puzzled furrows to Kyoko-chan’s otherwise-smooth brow, hears the quiet questions (Why isn’t onii-chan home? He said he was with Tsuna-kun, but then why isn’t either of them answering their phone?), thinks that perhaps the answers would come kindest from her own lips.
After all, she has a faith no one else could impart. (I know it sounds scary, Kyoko-chan, but Tsuna-san is strong! Tsuna-san has saved Haru’s life, and he’d never allow anything bad to happen! So let’s just bake some cookies for when they get home and wait here for them, all right?)
And she wonders if the answers wouldn’t be a kindness all their own. (Haru doesn’t mind, she tells herself quietly, clenching her fists and pretending to feel an imaginary ring digging into her palm. Haru is glad to know, because she would worry about Tsuna-san either way, and at least if she knows, then Haru can try and help Tsuna-san too.)
Tsuna-san would be angry, of course, but just because Tsuna-san is Tsuna-san does not mean that he always knows better than Haru herself. (Or so Haru thinks.) And Kyoko-chan would be worried, but Haru would always be there to distract her with cakes; and everything would all work out in the end because Haru loves them both and wouldn’t let it be any other way.
But she still knows that she will never say.
Tsuna-san isn’t the only one who wants to keep the innocent spark in Kyoko-chan’s eyes.
(And it makes Haru happy, deep down inside, to think that they are both fighting for the same thing.)
