When they get back to their present, Tsuna thinks, the very first thing he is going to do is reassure his mother (not that she needs it, he reflects; she probably thinks the entire family disappearing is just twice as romantic) and then go straight to his own bed.
He hasn’t gotten a decent night’s sleep since they got here, even when he has trained so hard he doesn’t even have the energy to panic - everything is so dangerously, achingly foreign that his brain and muscles both refuse to unwind, to properly rest. (Having Gokudera in the room would help, that lingering scent of smoke one of the most familiar things he knows, but the sheer comfort it provides just makes him feel all the more awkward, in the end.)
He can think of nothing else he’d rather do, looks forward to that more than almost anything.
But as per usual, there is already a sudden kink in his plans.
Namely, Haru.
“Tsuna-san, Tsuna-san! We’re all going to have an all-nighter movie night, as soon as we get back!”
Tsuna blinks, opens his mouth to ask her Wait, what?, but also as per usual she doesn’t even give him the chance to question or protest.
“Ha-hi, Haru decided it just now!”
Of course. “But, Haru-”
“Haru decided when Kyoko-chan was telling her what the outside of the future looks like!”
“How on earth did-”
“Ha-hi! The cars, Tsuna-san!”
“What-”
“Kyoko-chan’s story made Haru think about the cars of the future, and wonder whether or not they can transform! Do you think they can change their shape, Tsuna-san, like in a manga?”
Tsuna stares.
And he is quickly spared from having to try and find words, as Haru seemingly enjoys the sound of her own voice more than she would any actual answer: “And then Haru started thinking about movies about the future and transforming cars, and realised that as a mafia wife in training, it’s Haru’s duty to plan something to let the entire family unwind and celebrate! So we’re all going to have a movie night at Tsuna-san’s house!”
He tries again anyway. “But, Haru-”
“Ha-hi, please look forward to it, Tsuna-san!”
And then she is gone.
And Tsuna makes a mental note to stash some of the painkillers of the future into his pockets, before they leave.
At least some things will never change.
