Hello livejournal, my dear old friend!
Although it has been many moons since we two were last together, I hope you have not forgotten me.
Life has been happening at a rapid pace of late, and I have found myself taking pleasure in thinking back to the days of yore, documented in ye old livejournal.
I have been enjoying such nostalgic activities as re-reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower for the umpteenth time (I'm so glad I never had time to fully re-read it during my Realistic YA Fiction class in grad school because now it is still just as special as ever) and listening to old Jimmy Eat World and Tori Amos albums while I drive to work.
Anyway, all this nostalgia got me thinking about good ole LJ and I found that I quite missed it and I am so curious about all my old friends.
I started this thing at the end of 9th grade at the ripe old age of 15. Oh goodness. And now I am an old old woman of 26 with two Master's degrees and a full-time job who does lots of grown up things like buying insurance and going to the DMV and looking up dentists and consolidating a million dollars of student loans.
Since we last spoke, the following has happened:
-I graduated from grad school!
-I applied for a bazillion jobs (like 25) and the insane amount of rejection and "why aren't I good enough" and self-esteem woes made me feel like I was in high school again.
-I started a blog (a big girl one) which I was enthusiatic about at first but I never have time for anymore. Or anything of substance to say.
-Had a really weird job interview and had to turn down a job that just wasn't right.
-Was thankfully blessed with (almost) MY DREAM JOB. I am now a teen librarian at a great library in northern Massachusetts. I say almost dream, because I wish wish wish I could transport the library and everyone in it home to Colorado.
-Jeff got offered a job in Ohio (right after I already accepted my job) and we had to make some tough choices and it was awful and painful and ugh.
-Moved to Salem, MA (my middle school self was super excited about this one)
-Got in a stupid fender bender on my second day of work (ran into a concrete pole in the parking garage at my old building. facepalm.)
-Became obsessed with Doctor Who
-Finally hosted a library program that teens actually came to (yesterday! woohoo!)
And stuff. And things. Yep.
What have you all been up to?
