If you're wondering what happened, what is presumed to be a lightning strike at about 6:05pm yesterday took out the cable lines, phone lines, satellite LNBs, and a bunch of equipment in our house: two TVs, a LD/DVD combo player (this hits me the hardest, since I'm now stuck with the task of finding another LD player), another DVD player, a receiver, one of the three DirecTV boxes, and who knows what else. As far as I know, we still have no phone nor internet service at home.
Believe it or not, this isn't as bad as the last lightning strike - along with the damaged equipment from THAT strike, we also had to deal with the fact that one of our chimneys had been cleaved in half. That prompted us to get the spike-pit of a lightning rod array that we have on our house today.
So, yeah... I'll be off the known internets until Comcast gets around to fixing it. I ended up having to schedule a service call, which was scheduled for - get this - August 15 from 11am to 2pm. (Come on Verizon, I know you can install FiOS infrastructures faster than you are now >.>)
