THE WRATH OF JOY

And with that I had risen
into the visions
that I saw when I looked up on high
I was living for glory
and reading the story
so I knew what blood money could buy
I was quick in the quiet
death could not deny it
I stirred like a snake in the sun
but fast in the darkness
was I tearing apart this
wedding of two and the none
for pieces of silver
I promised to kill Her
I knew what blood money could buy
but I live for betrayal
and so swore to fail
let Her live so others might die
my heart was extensive
but heaven’s expensive
no matter what I would pay
so I claimed my reward
in the name of the Lord
no matter what He would say
but quickened no longer
for Her wrath was stronger
as She opened my neck to Her knife
fast in the shadow
in the stillness of battle
She kissed me and swallowed my life
so down into Hell
my wormwood star fell
to in blackness of darkness abide
and although gone to stay
still did I pray
for Hell’s fire could not quench my pride
God still could hear me
and the Devil did fear me
oh righteous was I in my sin!
the Woman saw clearly
how much and how dearly
I longed for The End to begin
so love held Her tight
and blind in Her light
I rose like a moth to the moon
the blood from the bite
was the price for the height
that I climbed as the stars sang my tune
you could call me a fool
to abide by Her rule
but I know what blood money can buy
I was living for glory
and writing the story
that I saw from the throne up on high
