Nihilism confuses me. Nihilists are afraid to have heroes, afraid to admit that something is important to them or valuable to them, and afraid to show reverence for something “supposed” to be revered, like God, but happy to show reverence for Maynard James Keenan, who is basically just a representation of a consumer choice that they have made. The thing that boggles my mind is that LIFE HAS MEANING. I see people, every day, WORKING OVERTIME to take the meaning out of their lives, to minimize it at every opportunity, and to drown it out whenever possible. Me? I’m way too lazy for that.
Blocking out reality takes so much effort. In a sense, I suppose I have to admire that. These people are not really stupid, but they are diligently ignorant.
