the old year - the new year

Jan 01, 2005 01:12

I hate to say goodbye to this past year considering it was one of the best of my life. Life gets consistently better as I get older. It kills me the number of adults that lied to me growing up that told me that those were the best years of my life. Hah - what did they know? The older I become, the more I realize that my opinions, emotions and behaviours are acceptable. While many people may dislike me, the few friends that I have really do love me and like me for who I am. I tend to make a strong impression on people - oddly enough, many of the best friends I ever had hate me now for seemingly no reason. Fine - I'd rather have people hate or love me than be indifferent. So to those that love me - happy new year - I love you too. And to those who hate me, well, beneath the loathing, deep down you know I love you too.

My mantra - the classic Chris Lowe quote - "I don't like much really, do I? But what I love, I love passionately." Accepting that is accepting myself.

So now, the top items in my life of 2004. Viva 2004 - you were a year that exceeded any and all expectations, hopes and dreams.
1. I am happily engaged to the best person I've ever known.
2. I went from being Agency to being employed by one of the best companies around.
3. My salary went from being pathetic to quite good
4. I am about to become a homeowner - our offer was accepted on New Years Eve
5. I discovered and truly developed my love of sushi
6. An old friend came back into my life. He had a hell of a year too....
7. I actually went on a much-needed vacation
8. I stuck with my exercise plan

Now, for the resolutions of 2005
1. I resolve to lose 10 more lbs. before the wedding (not that I really need to - it'd just be nice)
2. I resolve to not always take blame for everything
3. I resolve to allow myself to despise people and things as much as I please as long as it does not detract from my quality of life and as long as deep down I still love those people and things. Except Strawberries and Raisins - I don't think I could ever love them.
4. I resolve to enjoy my wedding and not let stupid details get to me
5. I resolve to keep in touch with friends
6. I resolve to stay in shape
7. Finally - I resolve to show my love for my friends in family in every way I possibly can.

So happy new year everyone. Undoubtedly, I love you all.
