Overheard in Law School
When discussing termination of contract exercises:
Professor: Unfortunately, you can't weasel your way out of this one.
1L: But we're going to be lawyers, aren't we supposed to weasel our way out of things?
Professor: No comment, because I'm an academic.
Mitigating damages:
1L: What if they can't afford to mitigate damages?
Professor: Well too bad, the law doesn't care. You shouldn't have been poor and you shouldn't have made a bad bargain.
