and so the deed is done. after 21.1km, one odd looking reddish blister on the right small toe, countless abrasions, an hr of nice easy recovery spin and staying out for 17hours straight. the hrm says i took 2 hrs 19mins, but gotta wait for the champion chip timings to be more precise. there is definitely room for improvement, but i'm very glad to haf made it to the finishing line in one piece.
i am smashed. but it has been a great and fulfilling day. caught up with lots of peeps over brunch and coffee after the run.
despite waking up at 330am for breakfast, i'm still pretty much awake at the moment. could be the endorphins at work. very glad i took the day off tom to potter ard the house and recover fully.
the run today has made my knees a little shaky and vulnerable and at certain moments during the run, i seriously questioned my motive and motivation for doing long endurance runs like this. but crossing the finishing line has its immense sense of satisfaction. and i know i will come back for more.
so now how shall i train for the full marathon in december?
