This has been a CRAZY week for me. Thursday my band played for one of the official RNC after-parties up on the 39th floor of a Tampa skyscraper - that was super fun. I also finished my pinch-hit fic for the NFE, which was an amazing opportunity and so much fun (and headbanging and pacing trying to work out the kinks of the time crunch), and the resulting fic is probably quite bad but I may go back and work it out in the future.
But...
Our beloved Osiris is missing :(. He ran away from home sometime Thursday night. The latch on the screened back porch must have slipped and he took off. I feel in my heart that he is still alive out there, but after five days of looking I have to conclude somebody took him in and is keeping him. We are posting tons of posters, craigslist and newspaper ads, and checking the shelter every two days. It is heartbreaking, especially seeing the bf who got him 10 years ago so sad at perhaps never seeing his buddy again. I pray whoever has him will see the ads and do the right thing and return him. He is a sweetheart and there will be an empty place in our hearts until he comes home.
I am trying to channel this into my writing, getting back to the fic I've been working on before the NFE, and the twists I had planned for the story are sadly lining up with this turn of events, so working on this part of the fic has been wrenchingly authentic for me.
Running has been nice and cathartic during this time (and I'm hitting some great benchmarks: 26:45 for 3 miles, my fastest time in more than 2 years), and as I listen to my running playlist I get so many ideas for more Narnia fics (good and angsty, naturally). Hopefully I can get enough momentum to get them out of my head and onto the screen!
