I read that 18 states are against the health-bill as unconstitutional. lt's been said that USA will vanish as a Federation. What makes me shake my head is that they call the bill unconstitutional. Regarding what's happened lately (Patriot Act) to the freedom of the individual, I am a tad baffled that this is what broke the camel's back ( Read more... )

its just that theres been this huge ideological push from the republican side for the past 30 yrs or so, for americans to be as independent as possible. they don't want big government and think people should be able to handle their own without assistance from the government.

there are a lot of folks that feel this way. unfortunately, they don't stop and take a good look around them to see how the govt does help them. if govt were to really pull back and leave every man, woman and child for themselves, we'd all be screwed.

take health insurance for instance. you know who has affordable insurance? people who work at big companies. why is their insurance so affordable? 2 reasons: more people in the group=lower insurance, and even more importantly - govt gives tax breaks to businesses that provide insurance to the workers. hmmm. lets put it this way. as a taxpayer, I'm paying for a group of people to have lower insurance rates.

teabaggers are a bunch of hypocrites who want to 'keep government out of their medicare', or 'keep govt out of their insurance' are already getting a big piece of the government pie, they just don't want to share. or even worse, they're getting a big piece of the government pie and don't even know it!

(btw, want a good laugh? look up teabagger in the urban dictionary.)

as for a state seceding from the union? a military coup? honey, I don't know what you're watching (I would expect the bbc to be a lot more sensible), but theres no chance in hell of that happening. no one group within the US is big enough to pull off a coup for one thing. yes, there may be some violence, but nothing to that extent. if we actually do see any violence, its gonna be a political assassination or two. maybe some sort of terrorist activity. but a coup? not gonna happen.

secession? nope. not economically feasible for any of the states. some states do have secessionist groups, alaska being one, palins hubby? or dad? or some other relative being part of the alaskan secessionist movement lol. oh, heres a good example - take alaska. where palin was governor (before quitting halfway through her term). palin who firmly believes in small govt and people standing on their own two feet and all that. did you know alaska receives more in federal aid per person than any other state? *smirks*

even if the state could stand on its own economically (maybe a few could, but most would be screwed), you'd have to convince a large portion of the voting population that they don't want to be part of the good ole US of A. if that were going on, I would have heard of it by now. theres no way that kind of story would escape the mainstream news, no way I wouldn't have heard of it.

idk, maybe bbc is reporting what they hear or see on fox news. that stuff is messed up. they get 5000 people at a protest, then report that 50000 were there. they said a couple million marched on washington a few months back, when there were maybe 70,000. its ridiculous. no one knows how many teabaggers are out there because their main mouthpiece, fox news, keeps inflating the numbers. if you're getting your news from there, or bbc is, then you aint getting the news hon. thats for damn sure.

so don't get too excited. we're not breaking up anytime soon.

I think the teabaggers are a result of lacking schooling and pure ignorance. Just like that definitio in UD - heh. I don't thin the hae any meta-cognitions at all. Because hello where do they think the deficit came rom? Preious sane use of the tax money? Hello?

BBC is rather strict about its reporting so the ractioing comes ffrom me and solely me. The Roman Empire is the main source or my suspicions. There are a lot of similarities. I don't think any Empire lasts forever. I don't think US will spilt up now, but eventually it will.

Right ow we're in another shit of paradigms - economic thinnking is undergoing a lot of change, as is the humanistic one. time will tell where we end up: in fanatism (wth is that called for real? I forget) or pragmatism.

Due to Alaska's geographical zone, I am not surprised at all. The cost of producing is in another class in our areas. We do have problems more temperated zones haen't even heard off. Agriculture is different for starters and just to be able to live here, you need more energy than average.

Palin is a moron, has always been and there's nothing to do about her. It's kind of sad that people like her reach as far as they obviously do. *facepalm*

erm yes. these are the same people that admired bush for being 'plain folks' because even though he went through harvard (on daddys dime), he couldn't manage more than a c average. they were proud of the fact that he didn't excel at school - they could relate to him. thats one of the things they love about palin... she's just plain folk like them you see. they don't need those educated elitests telling them what to do and how to live their lives. they don't think book smarts are necessary for a person to run the biggest economy in the world.

*headdesk*

now to top it off we got that clown glenn beck over at fox news telling them everything they want to hear. he makes these huge leaps of logic, changing facts to suit his needs, uses questionable sources, hell, doesn't cite his sources (unless of course its some right wing crack pot from the 60's).

then when we try to argue with them, they call us the sheep? wtf? you know part of obamas problem is that he's losing progressives left and right. they don't like that he's still in iraq, they don't like that he's moving shit up in afghanistan. they don't like that he and the democrats bent every which way trying to get the republicans in on this healthcare bill - that healthcare bill? a bunch of those changes were advocated by republicans up until obama sat down in the oval office. hell, we might as well have shoved single payer through, those jerks wouldn't have been on board no matter what!

and now, to top it off, obama is now allowing offshore drilling, AND he has even said that he can order an american citizen killed. so yep, many progressives are PISSED. and they're saying so. hell, keith olbermann did a scathing piece on that last story the other night - can you see fox news ever doing something like that to bush while he was in office? oh hell no, they were bowing at his feet. hell, they're still bowing at cheneys feet.

so I ask you this. if the teabaggers were so worried about fiscal responsibiltiy, where the fuck were they a few years ago? if they're so worried over how we're gonna pay for shit we supposedly don't need? then why weren't they worried about paying trillions for a war that we didn't need to fight and rebuilding a country that aint ours? and hey, you know how the teabaggers don't want to pay for people to get abortions because they don't believe they should happen? I don't believe we shoudl have fought in iraq and look where my tax dollars went. and are still going. and will be going for a looooong time.

that little measure of stupaks - the one that says no we won't use federal funds for abortion because some people don't like it - sets a dangerous precedent.

but thats beside the point. I really don't have time to go there. btw, fanatism? perhaps you mean fascism, because thats the opposite of socialism, and its what the extremists on the right are always trying to drag us toward.

heh. palin is a moron, in many ways I agree. but she is charismatic and craves power, she has no shame and either doesn't think or doesn't care that words have power. she's gonna get someone killed, she is. she keeps firing up those crowds and one of these days she's gonna fire up the wrong person, and he's gonna assassinate someone or he's gonna blow up a whole bunch of innocents. john wilkes booth, harvey lee oswald, timothy mcveigh. men like those did not occur in a vacuum. they're also proof that not all terrorists come from the middle east.

They believed in a quick fix and cheaper oil? Really I have no other idea because history shows it's never that fucking easy. But I blame this all on historylessness, (neologism that I seem to be using daily because it's becoming more and more clear that people have no effing perspective!).

Some had to know the costs of war, heck there is a very recent example in Vietnam. or maybe they are thinking about thr glory days post-WWII? But neglecting to remember that at the time we borrowed from future generations to create much of the upswing? I have no idea really, but history is rather clear in that department.

Charistmatic nitwits ae the most dangerous creatures!
