I thought about doing a review of my year, but I'm in too much of a lazy mood to do that. Instead I am going to fill out this survey from
sonata_ix.
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Graduated. Found a full time job.
2. Did you keep your goals/resolutions for 2007?
I didn't really have any. I had set a goal for myself to do better grade wise in my last semester of school, and I did that.
3. What was your favorite moment of the year?
Going to the zoo with Mike. Looking back, I did a lot of neat things with Mike that I've never done with friends before, like the Arboretum and Addison fireworks.
4. What was your least favorite moment of the year?
Frittering away my summer/fall in nothingness was a pretty bad time, but choosing a moment, I'd have to say the weekend before Christmas, when I faced crippling amounts of change.
5. What countries or states did you visit?
Texas. I stayed here, how boring!
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Another apartment, living at my parents house is going to get old.
7. What date(s) from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 10, 2008- the day I officially graduated college
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
It's a tie between graduating and getting my full time job.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Oh gawd, I feel like a failure concerning so many things. I guess I'd have to say, not realizing what was really going on in my life most of the time. I'm sure it's not a personal shortcoming and everyone does it, but I was depressed and didn't see it.
10. What were the best things you bought?
My bookcase, couch, and diploma frame (diploma frame cost more than the bookcase!)
11. What did you pine for, but never get?
I almost didn't get a job! Nothing else was really on my HAVE to have list.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My friends. They're always there for me, and put up with my drama and general shit.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled or depressed?
I've never pinpointed what makes me depressed. It just seems to come on slowly, consume me, then I pop out of it one day.
14. Where did most of your money go?
I'm actually interested to see my 2008 tax info, I'm not certain I topped the nothingness I made in 2007. Most of my money went towards food, work clothes, bookcase, couch, and a little towards fabric. Though I tried to get my projects for other people to pay for fabric for my projects.
15. What did you get really excited about?
The fireworks! The zoo! The Christmas that never was!
16. What songs will always remind you of 2008?
Paper Bag by Fiona Apple. An old song that I just discovered, I LOVE the music video.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
I. Happier or sadder? same (last year I was in the process of rearranging my apartment)
II. Thinner or fatter? Thinner! Breakup= not eating= thinner
III. Richer or poorer? Richer (potentially!)
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Gaming. As soon as I finish the one sewing project on my machine, I'm putting it away.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
TV watching and sleeping! I slept so much this summer/fall, and watched so much tv..
20. How did you spend New Year's Eve?
I went to a 1920's party in Denton with Angel! It was awesome, I wore my flapper dress again, and I even got a sweet little peck on the cheek at midnight from a guy, all cute in his 1920's garb!
22. Did you fall in love?
No, nothing new to fall in love with, even hobbies.
23. What concerts did you attend?
None! Gah! What a bum I've been! Though, I did buy tickets for The Killers on my birthday!
24. What were your greatest musical discoveries?
Fiona Apple was the most recent, then there is Against Me! and the Ghost in the Shell soundtrack.
25. What were your favorite movies?
The Dark Knight, Prince Caspian, WALL-E, Iron Man..
26. What were the best books you read?
White as Snow, I read it early in the year.
27. What were your favorite TV programs?
House, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Mythbusters (which I finally caught up on, and have seen every episode)
28. Is there anything you would change about 2008?
I would have liked to have realized I was depressed, and done something about it.
29. What kept you sane in 2008?
Mike. He always had a way of making me smile.
30. Did anyone you know die this year?
No.
31. Did anyone you know get married this year?
Jeff and Alicia, at the Pirate Wedding.
32. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 23, and I went out to eat with Mike for my birthday. On the actual day I bought my traditional small bluebell and Kitty brought me my favorite cookies/ a Dr. Pepper/ the Ghost in the Shell soundtracks!
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Business like. I've gotten rid of a lot of my old college work clothes and spent incomprehensible amounts of money on work clothes. In previous years, I was lucky if I spent $100 on clothes.
34. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned:
"And remember, my sentimental friend, that a heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others". (Professor Marvel)"
I have been depressed many times in my life, and living with my family is a good way to hide it. I don't know where it is, but somewhere I have a poem I wrote in high school about being surrounded by people and feeling all alone. That's what it is like to live here, I need out.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you crush on in 2008?
None? I've never had a thing for those people.
36. What political issues stirred you the most?
The presidential election.
37. Who did you miss?
My Denton friends I never get to see anymore. Angel is the only one I've managed to see three times since I moved, hopefully I can change that.
38. Who are the new friends you made this year?
Caitlin! Of course, I've known her since always, but knowing and being friends are really two different things. I'm certain someone I met at the beginning of 2008 is being left out, but by now it just seems like I've known them forever..
39. What are your resolutions for 2009?
I never make these.
40. What are your goals and plans for 2008?
Plans are in the works to move into my first 'grownup' apartment, and see my friends more!
