Hey All,
Well I have neglected this thing for long enough don't you think. Sorry guys but life has been too busy and I was also going through this "I am too lazy to write anything in my LJ today/tomorrow/for the next year" phase. But I'm back and I have some time to update you on all the most important parts of my life. So here we go...
School: School is a funny thing because for all of my life school has been the most important thing and now its over. Anyways my thesis (I think all of you remember my panic mode with that thing) went very well. My thesis was an analysis of Poker and AI. I looked at the world's leading program did an analysis and made a recommendation to improve the system. Unfortunately I did not have the resources and time to test my theroy but I might be able to do a little work on it this summer. Anyways I got honors for it which is good. That of course leads me to graduation. Well I did it. I got magna cum laude with honors in Theater and Computer Science, which is cool. A huge portion of my family came up for it which was awesome. My Uncle Rick, his partner Charlie, my mom, her partner Beth, my Unlce Orin, and my grandfather all came up to see me which was great. It was a pretty good week and I enjoyed myself for all of Senior week. Hey maybe one day I will actually post pictures for all to see. What a concept!
Relationships: Yes yes eveybody always asks about this one. I am pretty happy right now in terms of relationships. As some of you know, I have been dating Jess for about four months now, and we are pretty happy together. The weird thing is that it feels like we have known each other for ever and that we have been dating for longer than that. She is a really good person and I love her (which is a really strange thing). We are going to be living together this summer with one other girl named Ali in a three bedroom house, so we will both have our space. But after this summer we don't know whats going to happen. I am moving to NYC, and she might mover there with me. She doesn't know what she wants to do at this point, but she was thinking about book publishing so NYC would be a good place to be. Our philosophy right now is just to wait and see where we are in three months
This Summer: It's kind of weird because technically I don't really have summers off anymore but I am treating it like I do anyways. I decided while I was writing my thesis that I didn't have time to search for an apartment in NYC while entrenched in my academic work so I am going to stay in Saratoga Springs for the summer and I am trying to move to NYC by September. Meanwhile I have a lot to do here. I have a day job working at a helpdesk at my school. Its a good job because I just sit around all day playing on the internet until someone asks me a question. My boss is really cool and the hours aren't bad. I wish it payed a little bit more but you can't have everything. Actually I am at work right now. I also am working with my thesis advisor this summer too, helping him set-up a linux lab and a parallel custer, and helping him with more research into AI and Poker. And most of the programming I do will be while I am at the help desk so its pretty good deal. I am going to be paid just a little but I am doing it more for the experience than anything else. I am also looking for a part-time night job as well so I can earn some cash this summer and save a bunch of money. I'll probably end up working at the Gap or something like that. I have been applying all over just to see what I can get, and I am suppossed to interview for these things this week so I'll keep you updated.
THE REST OF MY LIFE: This is kind of scary starting off into the real world. But I am pretty optimistic. I'm young, I'm smart and I am allowed to try some things out and (god forbid) fail at them too. I will be moving to NYC, and I am going to try that acting thing. I have a couple of contacts down there and I am going to need them. I know its going to be hard, but I can handle it. I don't know what life has to offer but all I can say is bring it on.
Anyways I'll be able to post more things now that I am not entrenched in academic work. See you guys soon.
