i had to sing for the head of the music department!!
i think i am getting used to this place. it's pretty different but cool. they have a movie theater out here that's only $3 and last night i watched hairspray with my friend and some of her roommates. it was such a good movie!! holy moly! can i be two years younger and have like, an hour with zach effron? holy fetch dude. he's so frickin cute!
anyway, tonight i am going to an acapella concert by some BYU-I kids. apparently they do it every year and it's superb so i'm pretty stoked. plus, it only costs $4! thank you idaho.
so my relief society teacher is a vocal pedagogy major and she came over thursday night to ask me if i had done a few things that voice majors need to do, and i hadn't because i didn't know about it. one of them was signing up for semi private lessons, and in order to do that i had to sing for the head of the music department. yikes, right?? well when i went to his office yesterday i figured he would schedule an appointment for next week or something... not so. he gave me a hymnal and said be back in ten minutes and we'll hear ya sing. well, everybody else had time to prepare and stuff. so, here i am, singing cold for the head of the music department. the guy who will decide in a year whether or not i can continue as a music major. i was a tad nervous. i sang come unto Jesus and did fairly well, but he was impressed, as was his pianist so that was cool. now i just have to see which teacher i've been assigned to.
music theory and aural skills are going to kick my butt!!! they are both dang hard. like, no joke. however, the TA in both classes is dang beautiful so if i need any help i konw exactly who i'm going to... wink wink.
other than that, life's ok. i am still adjusting and trying to meet people which is no small task. my roommates are pretty awesome. one of them is engaged, another is practically engaged, one is a freshman, i like her the best, the other is cool. and the one i live with goes home every thursday night and is there until monday night, so i don;t see her much but im cool with it. yay for living on my own!!!
