Woe is Max

Mar 19, 2007 20:06

A month of antibiotics hasn't cured Max of his stomach problems. I stopped giving him meds on Sunday. A few minutes ago he was drooling, pawing at his mouth, and gagging -- all signs of nausea. I gave him a dose of one of the antibiotics. Tomorrow morning I'll call the vet and see what he thinks.

Back again. The poor guy was still nauseous and obviously miserable so I gave him some Pepto Bismol. Unfortunately that means that I made him even more unhappy in the short term.

It's 10 minutes post-Pepto. Max is finally settling down. After he was done with the worst of the pawing at his mouth and flinging Pepto I wiped both of us clean and put him in his fleece carry sack. As his stomach settled he rested his head on my wrist or the keyboard and drooled. :) Now he's curled up sleeping. Thank goodness.

UPDATE: The vet and I are puzzled. He said that all of the symptoms point to heliobacter in Max's tummy, yet the antibiotics haven't killed off the nasty buggers. So it's back to one of the antibiotics and filling a new prescription for another. At least he's feeling better now.
